I would love to skydive one day. I keep putting it off because of the cost, but I would love to hear from those who have done it.
How would you describe it?

It is expensive. But really, what hobby isn't. Golf, photography scrapbooking, yeah, I find it is all expensive. Once you get off student status though, you can get a second-hand rig fairly inexpensively, and since you no longer are paying for the jumpmaster and training, it is sooo much less.

Hi Edwin
One idea....Its popular in UK to use a skydive as an opportunity to raise funds for a charity. The idea is to rause funds for a particular cause, and as soon as you send the funds to the charity (usually about twice the cost of the jump) they release agreement for the fund raiser to make a skydive.
Your first skydive should be possible for about US $150. So find a charitable cuase to jump for and then set yourself a target to raise at least $300 for that cause, and you get the jump into the deal. Your friends will know that this is a difficult thing for you to do (skydive) and as long as you have a clear story for the skydive and the charitable cause you should do fine on raising the funds.
Oh and just to put it into perspective in the big scheme of things. I've an idea that on our deathbeds, not one of us will be saying..."I wish I'd saved more money in my life" however some of us will probably be saying"I wish I'd done X, or Y or Z" (insert whatever these could mean to you). In my view, decide what you want to do and then find the way to make it happen.
